Orphans stride with confidence at ‘hum kisi se kam nahin’ fashion show

Hyderabad, November 17, 2019: Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin, an orphans’ confidence instilling ramp walk to be held here in the city on Sunday at the premises of Cherish Foundation, an Orphan Home at Medipally in Uppal. Conceptualized by Weave Nation in partnership with Cherish Foundation, Sri Dhanalakshmi Enterprise, PRCI Hyderabad and Lodge Keys No.297, the purpose of the Fashion show was to instill confidence in home mates of Cherish Foundation comprised of 50 boys and girls. They are in the age group of 8 to 25 years. Some of them are working in some reputed IT companies, schools and organizations and others are studying. Some of these special kids are even preparing for Civil Services and aspiring to be IAS, IPS and IFS officers. On spotting their talent, Sri Dhanalakshmi Enterprise, PRCI Hyderabad, Lodge Keys No.297, Weave Nation came together to organize this unique event to encourage boys and girls in their career journey. Confidence is such a commodity, it is not available online nor can it be downloaded. We need to instill confidence by exposing the kids to various activities and programs. Confidence is a very important ingredient for success. It is not just available in a platter. It has to be nurtured over a period of time. A lot of people support orphans and their organizations by way of cash and kind. But, PRCI Hyderabad, Lodge Keys No.297, Weave Nation and Sri Dhanalakshmi Enterprise decided to help these kids in developing skills essential for success not just in career but also in life, say Hima Sailaja Theerdala, Proddaturu Veerabhadrudu, Gannarapu Ashok Kumar, Devraj Solanki, D. Ramchandram, MVV Seshu Kumar the people behind ‘Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin’ concept. About 25 boys have participated in the Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin, an orphans’ confidence instilling ramp walk. These boys include Manikanta, Jeeth, Ilesh, Kumar, Prem, Prashanth, Ravi, Bunny, Abhishek, Rauthvik, Saicharan, Ramesh, Abhishek, Pavan, Gideon, Sairam, Narsimha, George, Ganesh, Vishnu, Subhash, Raghu, David. Fashion Designer Hima Sailaja Theerdala of Weave Nation designed their clothes. The boys showcased Ikkat and Mangalagiri collections outsourced from local weavers from Pochampally and Koyyalguda. Weave Nation is a contemporary handloom brand, appeals to the younger generation and promotes handloom clothes which in turn supports weavers. The day began at 8:30 am with “I Am” contest, where the participant had to impersonate his/her favourite personality. Again this is a unique contest, where the participant had to wear a face mask of his or her favourite personality. It could be anyone as long as everyone knows the person — historical heroes, freedom fighters, achievers, teachers, celebrities, parents or friends. Each participant wrote the person’s name they were impersonating on a placard (I am Xxxxxx) and gave placard to the judges. One by one the contestants presented their impersonations. Based on their performance, the best two were picked up. In the end, they also showcased another placard revealing what they actually want in their life. The objective behind “I Am” contest was to make them learn the great qualities of the personality they were impersonating and incorporate those qualities in them. List of “I Am” Girl Contestants Mamata , a 20 years old girl impersonated Donald Trump, the President of the USA; Ratna Mala, 19 years old impersonated Jhansi Laxmi Bai, freedom fighter and the queen of the princely state of Jhansi in North India; 22 years old Esther impersonated Tennis star Sania Mirza; Krupa, a 20 years old singer impersonated the singing legend Lata Mangeshkar, who is now struggling for life in hospital and Hepsibha, 19 years old girl impersonated David Subramanyam, the founder of Cherish Foundation, whom all these girls and boys call “Daddy”. The boys' participants of “I Am” contest include: Abhishek impersonated film star Allu Arjun; Gideon - Thor Odinson, a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books; George - Abdul Kalam, David impersonated Dance Master Sekhar Another unique program held was Recognition to Orphan Achievers who secured jobs in well-known organizations. Three boys were felicitated for securing jobs in some reputed organisations. These include Ravi Teja who is working as Process Associate with First American India (a United States financial services company and is a leading provider of title insurance and settlement services to the real estate and mortgage industries); Kumar and Ilesh, both working as Coding Analysts with TNS India. These boys who despite being raised in an orphanage completed their studies and procured jobs in some reputed organizations and stood as a role models not only to their fellow home mates at Cherish Foundation but also to other youth in particular. Because it is not easy for an orphan to complete education successfully and secure a job against many odds, obstacles, limitations and struggles. They were felicitated with a shawl, bouquet and given away a dream wallet. David Subrahmanyam, the man behind the success of these boys was also felicitated by D. Ramchandram on behalf of PRCI Hyderabad Chapter, PR community and media fraternity in the city. On this occasion, “Cherish Music Band”, “Encounter with Experts” - a knowledge developing initiative was launched. There are a quite good number of talented singers and musicians among the 50 boys and girls of Cherish Foundation. To provide a platform and nurture their talent, Cherish Music Band was unveiled. They will soon start performing at schools, colleges, corporate and social events. After the Fashion Show, the children were provided sumptuous meal by Sri Dhanlakshmi Enterprise. The menu includes: Puri, Mirchi, Papad, Chicken Curry, Mutton Biryani, Bhendi Fry, Sambar, Alu Curry, Palak Dal, White Rice, Sweet and Ice cream.
