Orange Complaint Box’ launched in Ferozepur on international day to stop violence against women, victims to get help within 24 hours
Ferozepur, November 25, 2019: On International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women, the Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind today launched the ‘Orange Complaint Box’ dedicated to women in district administrative complex. DC also flagged off a rally from DAC complex to Saragarhi by hundreds of students wearing the symbolic dress, based on Orange theme, with placards in their hands to create awareness among the people. DC Gaind said that the Orange Complaint Boxes will be installed in the district at the public places like bus stand; railway station etc. and the same will be opened after every 24 hours. He said that it will be ensured the required help is extended on the complaint related to atrocities against any victimized woman, too within 24 hours. He appealed to the women to avail of this service to raise their voice against atrocities. Informing about their rights, he said that in times of trouble, they can get help by calling the Woman Helpline 1091. He also dialed the 1091 number from his mobile and gave detailed information about the quick assistance to the girl students through hand-free mode. Amanpreet Singh, Secretary District Legal Services Authority along with the advocates of Legal Aid Clinics also joined the Rally Flag Off ceremony. District Program Officer Ratnadeep Kaur Sandhu, while briefing about the importance of International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women, called on women to come forward and fight against violence or atrocities.
