Open Air Gym Inaugurated at PU South Campus

Chandigarh, December 29, 2018: Smt.Kirron Kher, MP (Lok Sabha) inaugurated the Open Air Gym in park opposite T-II houses, Panjab University South Campus, Sector-25, Chandigarh, here today. Prof.Shankarji Jha, Dean of University Instruction, Panjab University presided over the function. Prof.Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University was the Guest of Honour.
Smt.Kher after inaugurating the gym also tried her hand at few equipments. She expressed her joy at the way people are becoming more and more health conscious and are putting these open air gyms to best use. The public demanded to get their photographs clicked with Smt. Kher and she was more than happier to oblige. The kids were very excited to get their photographs clicked with Smt. Kher and she also showed her affection and showered her blessings on them. She also interacted with few media persons and expressed her views on the current political developments.
Prof. Shankarji Jha, Dean of University Instruction, Panjab University who was presiding over the function welcomed Smt. Kher and expressed his gratitude for providing financial assistance to the University for various projects. Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University also thanked the Chief Guest for contributing towards the development of Panjab University. The Registrar also put forward a few proposals to the MP for her consideration.
Smt. Kher, Dean of University Instruction & Registrar congratulated the Horticulture Division of Panjab University for successful installation of gym and highlighted the contribution of the division in providing the residents greener surroundings.
Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (H), Panjab University said that the Horticulture Division has been able to put its vision into realization due to constant support it has been receiving from the Panjab University Authorities and also, thanked Smt. Kher for sparing valuable time out of her busy schedule and for contribution out of MPLADS FUND for development of this open air gym and another one in Sector 14 Campus which is in progress.
PU Fellows, Deans, Prof. Rajesh Gill, President, Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA), Chairpersons and Representatives of PUTA and PU Laboratory & Technical Staff Association also graced the occasion. The residents of nearby houses were present in large number and were delighted to see among themselves their elected representative.
