Ludhiana, December 29, 2012: Offset Printers’ Association (OPA) distributed the ‘Grant-in-Aid’ to the tune of Rs. 10,07,935 to the delegation which visited DRUPA under the banner of OPA.

This grant was received from the Ministry of MSME under international cooperation scheme.

The visit of 15 member delegation from Offset Printers’ Association with one office bearer was sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India under the International Cooperation Scheme. CK Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India was the leader of delegation.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamal Chopra, General Secretary OPA said, “We are thankful to the Ministry of MSME for providing this rare opportunity to the entrepreneurs of the Small and Micro Printing and Packaging units, to learn about the latest developments”.

Such exhibitions and trade shows are always eye openers, in India more than 85% of the printing and packaging units are small/micro, and it may not be possible for such units to visit such exhibition without the support of the government, Chopra added.

This visit may prove to be a boon for the printing and packaging industry, because with this visit most of the members of delegation agreed that it is essential to work in clusters to cope with the high cost of the machines and also to face the global competition for the outsources jobs.

Earlier, BS Nagi, Assistant Director, MSME DI, Ludhiana, giving details about the schemes available with the Ministry of MSME for the overall benefit of trade and industry appreciated the activities of OPA and described it as the most active and dedicated association he has ever seen.
