Only 2.5 per cent of Indians fly

Hyderabad, October 14, 2016: Only 2.5 per cent of Indians only fly. Hence, there is a huge potential for those airlines who get into regional connectivity. India has 400 plus airports and only 75 or so fully operational. Once these airports are developed there is a huge potential for the airlines, he said while addressing an interactive session organised by Young FICCI Ladies Organisation(YFLO). He was speaking to them on the Turnaround Story of Spicejet, which he made sinking orgnisation into a profitable organization in 18 months.

We are expanding. We are adding new aircrafts. We are expanding globally. Adding more destinations globally. We are improving our regional connectivity. We are acquiring few more aircrafts, 8 to be precise. We will take a decision to place orders for few more aircrafts very soon

We will add few more routes from Hyderabad to Nagpur, Hyderabad to Calicut and some other underserved routes, he informed.

YFLO Hyderabad organized an interactive session with Mr. Ajay Singh, CMD of Spicejet for their members today in city at Hotel Trident, Madhapur.

About 100 members attended the session.

Nidhi Swarup, Chairperson of Young FICCI Ladies Organization(YFLO) welcomed the gathering.
She said YFLO Hyderabad was honored to bring a highly regarded and admired speaker Mr. Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet Limited, for an interactive session. The man with the midas touch who helped coin the phrase "ABKI BAAR MODI SARKAR".

Introducing the speakers, Nidhi Swarup said, As part of Narendra Modi’s election war room in 2014, Singh, coined BJP’s 2014 campaign slogan, “Abki baar Modi sarkar”. The catch phrase created a buzz and phenomenal recall value for Modi to date.

He is also known as a turnaround specialist. His magic stint as the director swung the loss-making Delhi Transport Corporation into profit. He did the same with SpiceJet, which he originally sold to reclaim it back from bankruptcy to profitability. Today SpiceJet is the leading domestic airline with more than 90% Passenger Load Factor and cancellations rate as low as 0.20%, one of the best in the industry.

SpiceJet is the result of Mr. Singh making the right strategic choice, brand building, team and execution that yielded results. His ambition is to make SpiceJet the McDonald's of the aviation industry.

He has scripted one of the most memorable turnaround stories in aviation history by going back to basics and getting involved in the day to day operations.

He knew that sky is not the limit and focused on flying high!
