Ludhiana, July 14, 2018: In a bid to bring transparency and convenience to the residents, the Online Land Registry facility is now fully operational in all 15 sub registrar offices of Ludhiana district and even the appointments for the same are being taken online. This facility was started in Ludhiana district from June 22, 2018 onwards and till date, 3,536 applicants have availed of this facility.

Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal informed that now, the applicants don’t have to suffer in long queues or visit the sub registrar offices again and again as this system would help save time and energy of residents. Besides details regarding stamp duty and registry fee can also be sought using this portal. He informed that the applicants can now apply online for land registry through website, www.igrpunjab.gov.in in a very simple and easy manner.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that besides this, residents can avail of this facility on any day of the week and at any time. He clarified that now, no registry is being done without online registration. He informed that with the help of National Generic Document Registration System, the required stamp duty, fee and other costs are also calculated online and with the start of this system, people’s dependance on deed writers has also decreased considerably. Mr Agrawal informed that for providing information and assisting the public, help desks for the same have been set up in all sub-registrar offices.

Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal informed that earlier it was observed that sometimes the witness used to turn hostile, but with the start of this system, the attendance of seller, buyer or witness is marked using biometric system. He said that very soon, the Computerised Land Record Data would be linked with this system, and that there would be no wrong land registries after that.
