Chandigarh, December 22, 2016: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Mr.V. P.Singh Badnore today called upon the youth especially the students of Chandigarh to be the real Demonetization Soldiers.
Addressing the students here today, Mr.Badnore said that the population of Chandigarh being elite, agile and educated have understood the exact meaning of Demonetisation and would willingly work towards spreading this concept at the grass roots levels. The concept behind such bold move by the government was mainly to curb black money and all citizens should support the initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.
The Governor also said that the future of the country lies with its youth and all the corrective measures taken by the government were aimed at bringing a transformation within the country ensuring corruption free and transparent governance.
Giving his mind, the Governor said that as many as one lakh students from all over the city would be technical educated about demonetisation and would be known as “Demonetisation Soldiers” These demonetisation soldiers would subsequently teach equal number of traders, small shop owners, Rehriwalas etc to encourage them to switch to a digital mode of payments and go cashless to rein in corruption. This great initiative taken by the government of India in the larger public interest must not go unnoticed, said Mr. Badnore.
He further said that Demonetisation goals given to the students should be clear cut and quantifiable to encourage the competitive spirit amongst the students, culminating in suitable rewards or recognition.
To encourage the educational institutions to come forward and contribute in making the move of demonetization a success by empowering people to adopt digital economy system, Mr. Badnore also announced holding of competitions, debates, declamations and other contests where winners in recognition to their efforts would be awarded.
Taking it as a challenge, most of the schools in Chandigarh have already initiated online transactions thereby contributing towards making Chandigarh India’s first cashless city, said Mr. Badnore.
