Ola announces launch of ‘Ola Bike’ in Agra
Agra, September 18, 2018: Ola, one of the world’s largest ride-hailing platforms, announced its plans to launch bikes on its platform in Agra. With this move, Agra will become the fourth city in Uttar Pradesh and seventeenth city in India to avail the Ola Bike service. Ola is addressing last-mile connectivity by enabling convenient mobility in one of the fastest growing cities in Uttar Pradesh. Over the past few years, Agra has been on a significant growth trajectory, with increased economic and employment activities. However, as a result Agra has also witnessed high vehicular pollution and traffic congestion at the same time. The government has been investing in developing a smart transport system with a multi-modal fleet in order to sustain the rising demand for transport in the city. After flagging-off the first batch of bikes, Mr. D.K Singh, RTO Officer, Agra, said “We welcome the launch of Ola bikes in Agra. Commuters in the city can look forward to an improved transportation system with an option that builds first-mile last-mile connectivity. Being cost-effective and convenient, Ola bikes will also help provide a seamless transport experience to help boost tourism in the city. RTO Agra has taken several initiatives to ease the pressure on road traffic and build a sustainable transport system and we appreciate Ola’s efforts to help us in this regard.” Ola Bike is a dynamic smart mobility offering that complements the government’s efforts to provide the people of Agra with a seamless and affordable solution to manoeuvre through congested roads. Targeted at facilitating mass mobility, Ola Bike will also add to the transport ecosystem of the city by working as a last-mile connectivity solution for commuters. Pranav Mehta, Regional Head – North, at Ola said, “At Ola, we are focused on building smart mobility solutions that cater to the unique needs of the Indian customer. Ola Bike will be a useful and cost effective service for short trips.” He further added, “The launch of Ola Bike will not only offer innovative commute options for citizens, but also offer employment opportunities to job seekers across the state. This move takes us a step closer in achieving our mission of building mobility for a billion people.” For added convenience of bike driver partners, the Ola app is available in 9 languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. At present, Ola offers a range of smart commuting options in Agra that include ‘Prime’, ‘Mini’, ‘Autorickshaw’, ‘Ola Share’, ‘Ola Rental’, ‘Ola Outstation’, and now, the newly introduced ‘Ola Bike.’ How does Ola Bike work? Ola Bike appears on the Ola app as a separate category. The commuter can book an Ola Bike similar to the way they book any other category.
