Ludhiana, May 26, 2017: Multigrain approach is a most common and convenient way of formulating the nutritious food products with additional benefits to fulfil the requirement of health conscious population. Chapatti is a daily meal item of most of the north Indian population. Multigrain functional chapatti flour with high fibre lowers the glycemic index and can be suitable for obese and diabetics. ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana has conducted licensing and training on preparation of Nutritious functional chapatti flour on 25 May 2017 at ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana. Dr. Mridula, D., Pr. Scientist, FG & OP Division imparted hands on training to Ms. Amandeep Kaur of The Swati Women Food Processing & Preservation Co-operative Workshop Industrial Society Ltd, Moga, Punjab. It is registered with Punjab Government Cooperatives. This cooperative society was started with 15 women who are all educated and also trained by Central Govt. Food Processing Unit, Ludhiana (Certificate Course). At present they are doing business of fruit squashes (kinnow, mango, grape), pickles, murabbas etc. Dr. Manju Bala, In charge of Institute Technical Management Unit, CIPHET assured them that all possible help would be extended for establishment of food processing business. Dr. S.K. Nanda, I/C Director ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana awarded license and training certificate to the entrepreneur on successful completion of the training of this technology.
