Ferozepur, February 24, 2016: Thousands of Northern Railway employees and representatives of Northern Railway Men’s Union (NRMU) converged today in front of Divisional Railway Manager Office in Ferozepur and raised slogans against NDA government.
While talking to the media persons, Comrade Shivgopal Mishra, General Secretary, NRMU and AIRF (All India Railwaymen’s Federation) said that more than 8000 railway employees from Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana have converged here today to express their resentment over privatization in Railway and 100 percent FDI, Anti-Railway employees recommendations in 7th pay commission report and New pension plan of central government. He said that though, the delegation of NRMU have met the railway minister and other senior railway officials several times, all their voices have fallen on deaf ears. “Now, all the railway employees will go on an indefinite strike on 11th April if our demands are not met. We don’t want to this but we are left with no choice”, said Comrade Shivdutt, Mandal President NRMU.
“There are lakhs of vacant seats in the railway but the government is not filling all the posts and the workload of each railway employee is increasing day by day. We had recommended a minimum wage of Rs. 26,000 per month instead of Rs. 18,000 per month, which was unheard.
