Now BCCI will organise Mini IPL (Overseas ) in addition to India Edition of IPL

Dharamshala, June 24, 2016: After the success of IPL within the country the BCCI has now decided to provide this format of league cricket to other interested countries annually.
After the conclusion of the Working Committee (WC) meet of BCCI at Hotel Pavilion in Dharamshala, Anurag Thakur, president of the Board said, “IPL is the fastest growing league in the world. In September this year BCCI is willing to host Mini IPL overseas in shorter format, of less than 2 weeks.”
This means that Board shall organise this tournament with same 8 teams in other counties every year in less matches concept. “The details about the tournament, is being prepared,” Thakur added. The Indian version shall continue.
He said that BCCI is committed to its Indian viewership, and shall provide maximum cricket to Indians –for Indians, “We are providing 13 test matches in India this year, the maximum for a year since the formation of BCCI.” He said BCCI agreed to focus mainly of domestic cricket so that maximum opportunities could be provided to players.
In case of International matches an agreement shall be signed with the host state association so that 10% seat could be reserved for students and specially-abled persons.
Taking to media after the 1st ever Annual Conclave at Dharamshala, Anurag said that WC BCCI agreed to the proposal that Ranji Trophy shall be played on the neutral venues from this session onwards.
He said in Under 19 matches nobody can play for more than 2 years in this age group “a player shall be eligible for only one world cup in this age group,” he added.
