Union Minister for Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu, graced the occasion as Chief Guest at the ICSI Northern Region Convocation ( First Session) and awarded CS degrees and Certificates to newly qualified Company Secretaries . He congratulated the newly qualified Company Secretaries for their exemplary performance and also congratulated the new CS Members by motivating them to remain inquisitive throughout their lives, saying this would ensure constant growth of their knowledge. Shri Suresh Prabhu also urged the students to follow the path of truth and ethics in their future endeavours and guide the corporate world on Corporate Governance and compliances.

Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, MOS for Corporate Affairs who also graced the ICSI-Northern Region Convocation (Second Session) as the Chief Guest, congratulated the young Professionals and advised them to set clear goals in their Career and steer the corporates in a well guided manner on issues related to ethics and governance .He said that “clearly defined goals, positive attitude and faith in one’s capabilities, supported by an untiring commitment and toil could create wonders”. He also expressed that, “We are confident that the new CS Members equipped with comprehensive knowledge and ability to deal with the Companies Act 2013 will be able to meet all the challenges.

Shri Sushil Modi, Leader in Opposition, Bihar Legislature was the Guest of Honour on the occasion and he congratulated the newly qualified members in an inspiring address. He asked the new members to embark upon fresh areas to work as Company Secretaries and widen the scope of their services to the Corporate World.

CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal, President, ICSI while speaking on the occasion informed that, “The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has adopted traditional attire as its Convocation Dress Code and has decided to do away with the western attire of gowns and caps that students used to adorn so far during the convocation ceremonies. The dress code for The ICSI Convocation is now Kurta Payjama for boys and saree/suit for girls.The Institute has also introduced a specially designed Angavastra or stole/ Uttariya made of Khadi for its students and is a part of the official dress code for the ceremony.
The idea is to promote Indian culture among future leaders and shed away the colonial tradition”. “The whole world is changing in all the spheres at a mindboggling speed. In this transformational environment, The ICSI believes that the best gift it can give to its students is the ability to understand this very basic nature of change so that they are well prepared for the future,Dr. Agrawal further added.

CS Dhananjay Shukla Chairman, NIRC of ICSI in his address congratulated the new Members and expressed that The ICSI has constantly added value by incorporating the best business and technical practices and philosophies to bridge the gap between education through books and the practical realities of the outside world so that the Members are fully equipped to deliver their best.

CS Ranjeet Pandey Council Member, ICSI, CS Rajiv Bajaj, Council Member, ICSI CS Satwinder Singh, Council Member, ICSI and CS Vineet Chaudhary, Council Member, ICSI welcomed the dignitaries.

CS Dinesh Chandra Arora, Secretary, ICSI declared the Convocation ceremony closed and proposed a Vote of Thanks.
