Non-Teaching XI Wins Friendly Cricket Match in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, February 16, 2019: A friendly cricket match was played in Lyallpur Khalsa College, between the Teaching and Non-teaching elevens of the college under the captaincy of Principal Gurpinder Singh Samra and PA to the Principal Surinder Kumar Chalotra respectively. The Non-teaching-XI set the target of 107 runs and successfully restricted the teaching-XI to the score of 98. Mr.Sandeep of non teaching eleven scored 41 runs and took one wicket for which he was adjudged Man of the match. Prof. Dinkar Sharma of the teaching XI scored 35 and took 1 wicket, while Prof. Parminder Singh of the same team impressed one and all by his all-round performance by scoring 19 runs and taking 5 wickets. The players of teaching team included Prof. Arun Dev Sharma, Prof. Dinkar Sharma, Prof. Ajit Pal Singh, Prof. Parminder Singh, Prof. Mohan Singh, Prof. Jasvir Madhar, Prof. Kuldeep Khullar, Prof. Suraj Kumar, Prof. Ajay Kumar, Prof Rahul and Prof. Sarabjit Singh whereas the Non Teaching team comprised of Sh. Ranjit Singh, Sh. Sandeep, Sh. Rakesh Singh, Sh. Inderjit Gill, Sh. Minal Sharma, Sh. Sunil Kumar, Sh. Mintu, Sh. Paramjit Kumar and Sh. Hardeep Kumar. In the post match ceremony Dr. Samra congratulated the winning team and appreciated the spirit and sportsmanship with which this annual sports match is being played for so many years. He said that the motto of the match is to promote the unity between the teaching and non teaching staff while spreading the message of importance of fitness and games. The captain of the non teaching XI Surinder Kumar Chalotra while receiving the trophy thanked the Principal Dr. Samra for this wonderful tradition of giving the non-teaching team an opportunity to play in the ground. Prof Ahuja Sandeep, Prof Gagandeep Singh and Prof Sudeep Singh Dhillon acted as umpires for the match while the running commentary on the occasion was done by Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Anand and Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar. Prof Parteek Arora, Prof Manish Goel and Mr. Manoj Kumar maintained the scoreboard. The occasion was marked by the presence of teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students of the College.
