POLLING TO BE HELD ON SEPT 19 & COUNTING ON SEPT 22: ADC (D) SHENA AGGARWAL
Ludhiana, September 2, 2018: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal has informed that the filing of nominations for the upcoming Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections would start from September 4, 2018 and the last day would be September 7, 2018. She said that the nominations can be filed between 11 am to 3 pm on these days. State Election Commission has already released the advance notification of schedule for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Elections.
While providing further information, Dr Shena Aggarwal informed that the last day of filing nominations would be September 7, 2018 (3pm), the scrutiny of nomination papers would be done at 11 am on September 10, 2018, the Withdrawal
of nominations can be done up to 3:00 PM on September 11, 2018 and the symbol allotment would be done immediately after that. She stated that the polling would be held from 8 am to 4 pm on September 19, 2018 and the counting of votes would be done on September 22, 2018.
The ADC (D) further informed that the Returning Officer, ADC, Jagraon and Assistant Returning Officers, Tehsildar Ludhiana Central and Executive Engineer, Construction Division No. 1, PWD (B&R), Ludhiana will receive nominations for 25 Zones of Zila Parishad at Zila Parishad Complex, Ludhiana. The nomination papers for 236 zones of Panchayat Samitis will be received by the following ROs and AROs at the places mentioned.
For Panchayat Samiti Dehlon, having 15 zones, SDM Ludhiana (East) would be the returning officer (RO) and the place of nominations would be the office of SDM Ludhiana (East). Similarly, for Panchayat Samiti Doraha, having 17 zones, Land Acquisition Collector (LAC) Improvement Trust Ludhiana would be the RO and the place of nomination would be the office of Municipal Council Doraha. For Panchayat Samiti Jagraon, having 25 zones, SDM Jagraon would be the RO and the place of nomination would be office of SDM Jagraon, for Panchayat Samiti Khanna, having 15 zones, SDM Khanna would be the RO and place of nominations would be the Court Room of SDM Khanna, for Panchayat Samiti Ludhiana-1, having 25 zones, Joint Commissioner (K), Municipal Corporation Ludhiana would be the RO and place of nominations would be Government College for Boys, Ludhiana, for Panchayat Samiti Ludhiana-2, having 25 zones, Joint Commissioner (P), Municipal Corporation Ludhiana would be the RO and place of nominations would be office of BDPO Ludhiana-2, Zila Parishad Complex, Ludhiana, for Panchayat Samiti Machhiwara having 16 zones, Deputy Director Local Government (DDLG) would be the RO and place of nominations would be the office of Municipal Council Machhiwara, for Panchayat Samiti Malaud having 15 zones, SDM Payal would be the RO and place of nominations would be court room of Tehsildar Payal, for Panchayat Samiti Pakhowal having 16 zones, AETC-2 Ludhiana would be the RO and place of nominations would be BDPO Office Pakhowal, for Panchayat Samiti Raikot having 15 zones, SDM Raikot would be the RO and place of nominations would be SDM Court Room, Raikot, for Panchayat Samiti Samrala having 15 zones, SDM Samrala would be the RO and place of nominations would be the court room of SDM Office Samrala, for Panchayat Samiti Sidhwan Bet having 15 zones, ACA GLADA would be the RO and place of nominations would be the office of Naib Tehsildar Sidhwan Bet, for Panchayat Samiti Sudhar having 22 zones, SDM Ludhiana (West) would be the RO and place of nominations would be office Market Committee Mullanpur.
Dr Shena Aggarwal further informed that about 11,61,000 voters would exercise their right to franchise at 1542 Polling Stations all over the district.
Deputy Commissioner cum District Electoral Officer Ludhiana, Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal has directed Police Department to make elaborate security arrangements for free and fair elections. Representatives of all recognised Political Parties were briefed about the upcoming elections and the arrangements being made for them by ADC (D) cum Additional District Electoral Officer, Dr. Shena Aggarwal and their cooperation was sought for successful conduct of elections.
She said that all the necessary arrangements like ballot boxes, election material, strong rooms for secure storage of ballot boxes till counting and counting centres have been made by the district administration.
