Dharamshala, November 23, 2018: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced that nomenclature of PGT of the School would be changed into Lecturers in the Education Department. The Chief Minister said that the promotion quota for school lecturer would be increased from 50 percent to 60 percent and posts of Vice Principal would be created in Government Senior Secondary Schools in the State. He also announced that Posts of Vice Principal would be created in Government Senior Secondary Schools.
He also announced one time withdrawal in holding annual increment of teachers having low result.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was addressing the State Level Education Conference on Universal, Free, Compulsory and Quality Education for all in Auditorium of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Agriculture University, Palampur in Kangra district today . This Conference was organized by the Himachal Pradesh School Lecturer’s Association (HPSLA).
He said , “ previous State Government announced opening of 21 Degree Colleges in the State in last few months of its tenure by making a budget provision of Rs one lakh each. He said that the present State Government was focusing on strengthening the existing educational institutions in the State.”
Jai Ram Thakur said that value based education was essential for a strong and vibrant society. He said that in coming times moral education and Yog would be made the integral part of educational curriculum in the State. He said that the teachers should also come forward to check the menace of drug abuse amongst the students. He said , “ apart from imparting knowledge to the students, the teachers should also minutely monitor behavioural change in their students.”
He informed that recruitment of thousands of trained teachers is in pipeline so as to ensure that every institution has adequate staff.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government has introduced several schemes for making Himachal Pradesh as an education hub of the country. He said that Medha Protshan Yojna has been launched to provide financial assistance to meritorious students to prepare for various competitive examinations. He said that Atal Adarsh Vidya Kendra would be opened in the State for imparting quality education to the students.
The Chief Minister said, “one should be a learner throughout his or her life only then one can grow in life. Teaching is a very noble profession and biggest profession in nation building,no nation can progress until it has dedicated and qualified team of teachers. Thus the role and duty of teachers become further more important.”

While nostalgically remembering his school days, Chief Minister said that he had to travel about 18 Kms daily, but today there were educational institutions in almost three Kms distance in the State. He said that but several educational institutions were opened with a eye on votes.
The Chief Minister also released a souvenir on Universal, Free and Quality Education on the occasion.
Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that the State has been awarded as the “Best State” amongst the big states of the country in the ‘State of the State Survey’ conducted by a reputed weekly of the country. He said that the State today have about 24 Government and Private Universities and over 18,000 educational institutions, but now it was need of the hour for qualitative improvement in the field of education. He said that teachers not only play a major role in shaping the future of the students, but also have capacity to give new direction to the society. He said that education should be valued based for making our nation a Vishav Guru.
Director Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma assured the Chief Minister that the teachers of the State would ensure that Himachal Pradesh emerges as an education hub of the country.
