Nod For Initiating Work On 3 New Prestigious Memorials In Punjab

Chandigarh, November 20, 2015: Continuing his spree to preserve the glorious cultural heritage of the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal today gave green signal for initiating work on three prestigious memorials across the state at a cost of nearly Rs 25 crore. 
            Presiding over a high level meeting here at his residence this morning, the Chief Minister gave nod for starting work on Bhai Mardana Memorial at Ferozepur, Shri Guru Virjanand Samarak at Kartarpur near Jalandhar and Baba Moti Ram Mehra Memorial at Fatehgarh Sahib. Mr. Badal, while underscoring the need for expediting execution of these memorials, said that these memorials would act as lighthouses to acquaint our coming generations about the rich cultural heritage of the state.  He said that the work on these projects should be initiated at the earliest to ensure its timely completion. 
            The Chief Minister was apprised in the meeting that upcoming Bhai Mardana Memorial at Ferozepur would be a magnificent building with rare architecture. As a tribute to Bhai Mardana ji, a contemporary of first Guru of Sikhs Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, this memorial to be constructed over 0.72 acres of land would have a state of the art gallery with pictures depicting the life history of Bhai Mardana Ji besides a music academy to train the budding students in classical gurbani.  
            Likewise, it was informed that Shri Guru Virjanand Samarak, being constructed at Kartarpur- the birth place of this celebrated teacher of Arya Samaj founder Swami Dayanand Saraswati, would emerge as a centre of 'research in Arya Samaj' movement. This memorial spread over 0.93 acres would also house a gallery exhibiting the life, works and philosophy of renowned saint Swami Virjanand and his disciple Swami Dayanand Saraswati.
            In the same manner Baba Moti Ram Mehra Memorial at Fatehgarh Sahib would be equipped with flat relief sculptures associated with life of Baba Moti Ram Mehra Ji, who served milk to younger Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri ji in 'Thanda Burj' before the martyrdom of chotta sahibzadas at Sirhind. The land of this memorial would also have picturesque landscaping so as to give a splendid look to the memorial. 
            Prominent amongst other present in the meeting included Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. KJS Cheema, Chief Architect Punjab Ms. Sapna, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. KK Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Mr. DPS Kharbhanda and Deputy Commissioner Fatehgarh Sahib Mr. Kamal Jit Singh Sangha and former Minister Jathedar Hira Singh Gabria.
