Jalandhar: Central Univesity Himachal Pradesh vice chancellor (Dr.) Kuldip Chand Agnihotri has said it was good quality of doing experiments in the field of journalist like other fields but nobody should play with the basic principles of journalism while doing experiments.
He added any writing might be written in a true and beautiful manner but it would have no significance if it was not in favour of the society. He was addressing a seminar on the topic 'Role of Media in New India" organised recently by Vishwa Samvad Kendra at Guru Gobind Singh Avenue here. He was the key speaker at the seminar.
(Dr.) Agnihotri further said that the field of journalism was not limited as it had extended a lot with the entry of social media. But, it had been observed that with the new era media the values of journalism were under a threat. He asserted that the present established journalists should come forward for guiding the new entrants in the field of journalism. He laid stress on setting up of principles of journalism in the social media too.
(Dr.) Agnihotri said that there was a good sign that the youths were engaging themselves in the field of journalism. It would not only inculcate a new spirit in journalism but also give birth to new thoughts and new creativity, he said, adding but it must be kept in mind that in an attempt to create newness there should be no threat on the set principles of journalism. He said the echoes of new India were being listened across the world and there was a need to give a further boost to this new trend of media.
In her address, the chief guest of seminar and Registrar of DAV University Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj said the image of media had improved due to positive journalism these days. Besides, acceptance of the media had increased, she said. She said an interesting aspect was that there had been tremendous increase in the circulation of print media, both magazines and dailies, besides a extension of electronic media. This showed that the field of journalism was on rise across the country and new avenues for the youths were being created, she said. She laid stress on a balance between commercialisation and morality in the field of journalism. She added no media house could survive without commercialism and it could protect its existence without morality. She said both these elements were not opposite to each other rather these compliment each other.
Speaking on the occasion, RSS state media in-charge Ramgopal briefed the gathering about the activities of Vishwa Samvad Kendra. He said Vishwa Samvad Kendra was actively working for further strengthening the spirit of nationalism among the masses through various mediums of communication. He added the Kendra face challenges and problems too and found suitable solutions to them. He said it was good to note that Hindutva had become a center for talk not only in India but across the world.
