Ludhiana, July 14, 2018: Ludhiana MP Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu today warned that no person selling drugs would be spared. He said that if any person is caught selling drugs then he would be dealt strongly and strictest possible action would be taken against him. He said this while addressing the gathering during a rally against drugs organised by Ludhiana East MLA Mr Sanjay Talwar. The rally started from Samrala Chowk and ended at Shivpuri Chowk.

The MP was also accompanied by Cabinet Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner of Police Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, besides several others.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr Bittu urged the residents to provide tip-off about people selling drugs to the police and assured that their identities would not be revealed. He also said that no political person would come in support of drug peddlers and police is free to take action against such persons.

He said that those who have fallen prey to drug menace need special care and that all of us should join hands and adopt atleast one such person so that they can shun this path and join mainstream. He said that today’s youth is the backbone of our country and no person involved in peddling drugs would be allowed to play with their lives.

Cabinet Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the Congress-led Punjab government is committed for checking the problem of drugs in the state. He said that ever since the Congress came to power in state, several drug peddlers have been nabbed and warned that if anyone tries to sell drugs, he would face severe punishment.

MLA Mr Sanjay Talwar said that the main aim of organising this rally was to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs. He said that his entire family participated in today’s rally because they wanted to spread this message that if anyone falls prey to drug menace, it is only going to make their lives worse. He said that more such rallies would be organised in other parts of the city as well.

Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal said that if any person wants to shun drugs, he should contact the District Administration and would be treated free of cost by the government.

On this occasion, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu also administered oath to all present for wiping out drugs from the state.
