New Year gift to Gallantry Award Winners of Punjab

Chandigarh, January 10, 2014: Punjab Government has increased Monetary allowance entitled to Gallantry Award Winners of the state.  The hike would be 20% in the Monetary Grant w.e.f 30 December, 2013.
Disclosing this here today Director Defence Services Welfare, Punjab Brig. Manjit Singh said that the enhanced rates of Monetary Allowance will be applicable to Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra awardees of the state of Punjab. The increased rates would be for Param Vir Chakra from Rs. 19,250 to   Rs. 23,100, Ashok Chakra from Rs. 15,400   to Rs. 18,480, Maha Vir Chakra Rs. 14,630 to Rs. 17,556, Kirti Chakra         Rs. 11,550 to      Rs. 13,860 Vir Chakra Rs. 8,470 to Rs. 10,164 and Shaurya Chakra       from Rs. 5,400 to          Rs. 6,480.
Brig. Manjit Singh further  said that 4 Param Vir Chakra , 26 Mahavir Chakra, 152 Vir Chakra, 04 Ashok Chakra, 31 Kirti Chakra and 177 Shaurya Chakra to soldiers belonging to Punjab have been awarded for displaying gallantry during war/counter insurgency and anti terrorists operations. Annuity is given to those Army Personnel, who have received these decorations prior to 06 Nov, 2002. After 06 Nov, 2002 lump sum grant is being given to Awardees.
