New Frontiers in e-Governance discussed during National Seminar at GGNIMT

A Speaker addressing PTU Sponsored National Seminar on the topic: “New Frontiers in e- Governance” at GGNIMT, Ludhiana on Friday. 

Ludhiana, May 22, 2015: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ludhiana began with its two day PTU Sponsored National Seminar on the topic: “New Frontiers in e- Governance” here today. As many as 30 papers were presented during the first day of the seminar. The broad topics dealt with during the seminar included e-governance in context of Companies Act 2013, e-governance and corruption, ICT based best practice by Indian Government, Impact of e-governance on the govt. performance management. etc.

Dr. Manish Bansal, Dean Academics and Research, MIMIT, Malout was the key note speaker for day. While Dr. S. S Johl, Chancellor, Central University of Punjab was the Chief Guest.

Prof. Prithipal Singh Kapur, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC) extended a formal welcome to the guests and led them for the lamp lightning ceremony.

This was followed by the presentation of the theme by Mr. Parvinder Singh, Head, Dept. of Business Management, GGNIMT. Dr. P. S Khattra , Principal , GGNIMT underlined the scope and  research perspective of e-governance.

Dr. Bansal then presented the key note address. He highlighted the e-governance initiatives in fields of land records, registration, treasuries, transports, police, and passport services. He pointed out the challenges and actions needed to take the e-governance to a next milestone.

Dr. Johl gave the presidential remarks. He highlighted the urgent need for e-governance in our county to make it paper-less, efficient and citizen centric. He said people’s initial inhibition needs to be curbed for larger acceptance.  He motivated the students to take initiative to impart computer education to the senior citizens as deeper ICT penetration would generate remarkable results in e-governance.

This was followed by the first Technical Session, which was Chaired by Dr. Harpreet Singh, Director , CKD Institute of Management Technologies , Tarn Taran. He exhorted that a change in people’s mind set was the key to the success of e-governance.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Co-ordinator, GGNIMT proposed a vote of thanks. He expressed his heart felt gratitude to the guests for sharing valuable information with the audience.
