Jalandhar: The NCERT Director Shruti Shukla has said that it was totally wrong to connect education to employment alone. She said that the main objective of education should be to progress the Nation by developing human qualities. She was addressing the closing ceremony of Sarvhitkari Varshikotsva Smaroh organised by Sarvhitkari Shiksha Samiti here on Monday.
She expressed concern that today both the students and the parents were only concentrating to attain marks in the examination and career of the student. As a result, the basic objective of getting education such as developing human values, building moral values and developing society by personalities development were lagging behind, she added.

Addressing the closing ceremony as the key speaker, Shruti Shukla said that the objective of education should be broaden. She said that every student was carrying special qualities given by the nature and the responsibility of education was to provide an opportunity to a student to explore those qualities. She added education was breathless without moral values because one could get employment with the help of degrees. But, one could stick to that post only on the basis of one's sacrament. She regretted that the today's education system was mainly revolving around marks and we were losing our moral values. She said the increasing tendency of corruption and malpractices were also the outcome of fall of moral values. She expressed happiness that educational institutions like Sarvhitkari Shiksha Samiti were providing qualitative and cultured education.
