Nauni varsity scientist bags Lifetime Achievement award
Dr Raj Kumar Thakur, a renowned expert in Apiculture and Joint Director (Communication) at the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni has been honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award in Gujarat. He received the award on Tuesday during the National Symposium on Sustainable Management of Pests and Diseases in Augmenting Food and Nutritional Security held at Navsari Agricultural University, Gujarat. The award recognizes Dr Thakur’s meritorious contribution in the field of apiculture and economic entomology. In addition, Dr Thakur was recently also empanelled as a Research Guide in the specialized areas related to Agriculture, Plant Protection, Apiculture, Entomology and related subjects by the Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Science University, Arunachal Pradesh. An alumnus of UHF Nauni, Dr Thakur completed his post-doctorate from Humboldt University, Berlin. He has previously served as the Project Coordinator, All India Coordinated Research Project (Honeybees and Pollinators) in the Indian Council for Agricultural Research where he provided leadership to 26 AICRP Centres for implementation of research and programme, organization of tribal sub-plan trainings on beekeeping in various states of the country. At UHF, he is focussed on reaching the agricultural community of the state through various mediums of communication in order to solve the problems faced by them. University Vice-Chancellor Dr HC Sharma and other scientists congratulated Dr Thakur for bringing laurels to the university.
