National Unity Day celebrations at PU’s Boys Hostel No. 4
Chandigarh, October 31, 2019: To mark the ‘National Unity Day’ on the eve of 141st birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the residents and staff of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hall, Boy’s Hostel No. 4 at Panjab University organised series of events and paid homage to the legendry. Dean Student Welfare, Professor (Dr.) Emanual Nahar lauded the role played by Sardar Patel in unifying the nation in a single thread. In his address, Prof. Nahar threw light on the life-sketch of Sardar Patel and cited the historical endeavours undertaken by him and advised the young generation to follow his footsteps. He underlined that like Sardar Patel one should ‘live for a purpose’ and ‘serve the cause of humanity’. The day began with lighting of lamp and floral tributes to the legendry followed by plantation drive in the hostel premises. Later, a Yoga and Meditation Workshop was conducted under the aegis of Indian Institute of Yoga and Management for the hostel-residents and staff by Colonel Anutosh. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Jasvinder. During the workshop, different techniques were demonstrated by Colonel Anutosh depicting how one can maintain the peace of mind and channelize one’s energy to achieve higher goals for the betterment of self and society. The workshop was followed by an interactive session that lasted for more than three hours. Integrity Pledge was also carried out to commit to highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times and to support the fight against corruption.
