National seminar on Situating the Punjabi Society in 18th and 19th Centuries concluded at GNDU

Amritsar, March 26, 2015:  A two-day national seminar on Situating the Punjabi Society in Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries concluded here today in the Conference Hall of the Guru Nanak Dev University. This seminar was organised by the Department of History under the aegis of SAP-UGC-DRS. As many as 100 delegates from all over the country participated.

Radha Sharma, Director of the Seminar welcomed the guests and others.  Sulakhan Singh was the Organizing Secretary of Seminar.  Sukhdev Singh Sohal, Coordinator, SAP, Dr. Bir Good Gill, Head of Department and  Sukhwant Singh thanked the delegation.

In the various sessions of last day of the seminar distinguished historians & scholars  Himadri Bannerjee from Calcutta University presided over the valedictory session.  Raj Kumar Hans, M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara delivered a lecture on cracks in the Sikh history: Dalit Questioning.   Showkat Ahmad also presented paper on Socio-cultural life of the Kashmir under Lahore Darbar. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
