Chandigarh, January 11, 2014: 6th National Livestock Championship is being organised at Sri Muktsar Sahib from January 8 to 12. On the fourth day of the championship Animal Husbandry Minister Punjab Gulzar Singh Ranike said that during the milk competition among various milch animals, HF cow of Devinder Singh of village Daegapur of district Patiala broke all pervious National records by yielding 57.120 kg of milk in single day. The animal has won first prize of Rs. 1 lac in cash.
He further said that Murrah buffalo category buffalo of Balwinder Singh of village Rurki in Fatehgarh Sahib district won the first prize by yielding 22.835 Kg milk. In Nili Ravi breed buffalo of Sh. Chand Singh of Baghapurana (District Moga) won the first prize with milk yield of 20.230 Kg.
The Minister further said that Goat of Jagir Singh of village Lehrabega (District Bathinda) also broke the previous records by giving 4.300 Kg daily milk yield.
Ranike said that the total prize of Rs. 1.25 Crore will be distributed by Chief Minister, Punjab Parkash Singh Badal to the winners of various breed competition in different species like Cows, Buffaloes, Horses, Sheep, Pigs, Dogs and poultry birds on the last day of the championship. // punjab news live, punjab news online, punjab news, punjab news headlines, punjab breaking news, india news, punjab news,
