National Conference on “Start Up India” at PU
Chandigarh, February 28, 2019: “Those who fail miserably rise Greatly”, said Mr.K.S. Bhatia, CEO Pumpkart.com during one day National Conference on “Start Up India, Stand Up India”: The Awakening of Asian Tiger”, organized by University Institute of Applied Management Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh, here today. Mr.Bhatia motivated the participants and students and shared his journey from failure to success. He highlighted the role of 3H’s i.e humility, hardwork and honesty in achieving success. He further said that it is the entrepreneurs that have changed the world and it is time that Indian entrepreneurs took the lead and transformed the nation. Ms.Madhuchanda Mishra, Adviser, Prosperity and Knowledge Economy at British High Commission, Chandigarh, in her address informed the participants about the role of UK in supporting bilateral entrepreneurship linkages between India and UK. She concluded her address by saying that the entrepreneurs can change the way we work and help create a better society through sustainable development. Prof. Karamjit Singh, Registrar, PU spoke about the role of failures in pushing a person forward. He advised the students to support their degrees and qualifications with their capabilities and potential. He further suggested that patience and perseverance will make Indian youth an asset for the nation. Earlier, Prof. Upasna Joshi Sethi, Director, UIAMS extended a warm welcome to all the guests, academicians, students and other participants. Prof. Keshav Malhotra, Dean Faculty of Business Management and Commerce, PU appreciating the choice of Topic for the conference, in his inaugural remarks highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in driving the Indian success story. The parallel sessions were held where participants from academics, industry and students deliberated on various themes of management. There was a panel discussion on Issues and Challenges for Start-ups. Six UIAMS startups from the region shared their experiences. The Valedictory session was chaired by Mr. Sameer Singla, CEO, Jugnoo, Chicklabs and Jungleworks. While sharing his experience Mr.Singla expressed his willingness to support startups as he is ready to fund atleast 10 startups every year. Dr. Monika Aggarwal, Organising Secretary thanked all participants and Startups for their contribution to the event.
