Ludhiana, December 13, 2012: Head of Namdhari sect- Satguru Jagjit Singh passed away in a local hospital this evening.

As per available information, he breathed his last at around 6 p.m.

He was admitted at Satguru Patap Apollo Hospital for the last few weeks.

He was 92 years old.

He was on life support system for the last several days. He was survived by his wife Chand Kaur.

His nephew Udhay Singh, former PPCC Chief HS Hanspal and few more were also alongwith him in the hospital when he breathed his last.

His cremation will take place tomorrow at Bhaini Sahib.

It may be mentioned here that the Namdhari sect has its headquarters in Bhaini Sahib, a nearby village. The Guru had his mass following in and abroad.

Sources revealed that many prominent personalities are likely to attend his cremation tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today expressed profound grief over the sad demise of Satguru Jagjit Singh.

In a condolence message to the bereaved family and the Namdhari Durbar, Capt Amarinder said, Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji’s demise is a great loss to the humanity. He said, the Satguru was the guiding force not for the Namdhari durbar only, but the whole of mankind.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences, he said, the Congress party joins the family and the Namdhari Durbar in this hour of grief. He said, this is an irreparable loss and the vacuum created will never be fulfilled.

Capt Amarinder said, Satguru will however continue to guide the lives of millions and millions of people through his teachings and the ideals he set and strengthened.
