Ludhiana, August 22, 2018: For bringing transparency in financial transactions and making payment of taxes easy in Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, the civic body has started the facility of making payments through digital or online mode. This facility is being well received by the public. A lucky draw of all such people was organised in MC’s Zone A office near Mata Rani Chowk, here today.

During the first lucky draw organised today, 10 taxpayers were awarded with gift packs and seeing the enormous response, the MC officers announced that from now on, this lucky draw would be organised every month.

MC Joint Commissioner Dr Poonam Preet Kaur informed that today’s lucky draw was organised for those residents, who have made payments of property tax, house tax and other taxes through either E-POS machines or through digital machines.

During today’s lucky draw, Mr Roshan Lal won first prize and Mr Rajinderpal Mahindra won second prize. Similarly, Mr Jaspal Singh, Miss Rakesh Rani and Mr Davinder Singh won third prize jointly, while Mr Jasvir Singh, Mr Prem Pal Aggarwal, Mr Gurinderpal Singh, Miss Palwinder Kaur and Miss Kamaljit Kaur won fourth prize jointly.

Dr Poonam Preet Kaur further informed that this new facility is being well received by the public and ever since it has been started, till date, more than 3000 transactions have been made and an amount of Rs 1.80 crore have been deposited by residents through E-Pos and digital form of payments. She informed that while making payments either through E-Pos machines or digital machines, residents would not have to pay any hidden charges or additional surcharge for any amount deposited.

She said that for promoting digital forms of payments amongst the city residents, the digital cards for City Bus Service are being made at the main Bus Stand, here, and very soon, MC would start making these cards in all of its zonal offices.

Prominent among those present during today’s lucky draw included Mr Tajinderpal Singh Panchi, HDFC Manager Mr Anil Gupta, besides several others.
