MTM students of LKC visit “The City Beautiful –Chandigarh”
Jalandhar, October 22, 2019: LKC Tourism Club organized a one day educational tour to the City Beautiful-Chandigarh. The tour was organized by the Master of Tourism Management students of the Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. Appreciating the trip to the capital city, college Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra informed that such programs are organized by the college to impart practical exposure to the students about the selected tourism attractions of Chandigarh. The students visited number of tourist attractions in Chandigarh, which is one of the cleanest cities in India as designed by the legendary French Architect –Le Corbusier. The tour started with the visit to Sukhna Lake wherein students observed various tourist facilities provided for the tourists including food and beverage, rides, boating, signage, camel riding, portrait, shopping, etc. The students also interacted with the tourists present over there. The next attraction was the Government Museum and Art Gallery wherein students visited number of sections the museum including metal sculptures, stone sculptures, decorative arts, coins gallery, Pottery section, modern and Indian contemporary art followed by the visit to Rock Garden, a master piece created by Mr. Nek Chand. Students observed various items on display which was created by the waste materials like glasses, bangle, bottles, electrical waste and broken pipes. The students also visited Sector 17 and enjoyed shopping there. The tour was accompanied by Prof. Vineet Kumar Gupta, Department of Tourism Management and Prof. Dr. Jyoti Vohra, Department of Commerce.
