More names to be surfaced in fake license scam in Ferozepur: Police

Ferozepur, December 11, 2014: The alleged nexus between the transport officials and agents was exposed last day after the arrest of two of District Transport Office employees. The employees at the District Transport Office were already under scanner after the name of few of its employees was surfaced during the investigation after recovery of fake driving licenses, RCs on 21st October this year.
Earlier on 21st October, the Ferozepur police had achieved huge success and had arrested two persons named Jasvir Kumar aka Bittu and Pawan Kuumar aka Pannu with 120 fake RCs and Driving Licenses, letter pads of various insurance companies, fake Punjab Police Identity Cards, Six fake number and number of vehicles. During the investigation, the name of three Transport Office Officials, Mulkh Raj, Surinder Bhandari, and Surinder Pal Singh was surfaced. Mulkh Raj and Surinder Bhandari have been arrested by the police while another suspicious Surinder Pal Singh was already transferred last month.
Charandeep Singh, the District Transport Officer said that he is trying his best to streamline the work. He admitted that a mess was going in the district and earlier with additional charge of DTO office; it was not possible to have proper monitoring. He said at present, one can get a driving license after completing the required formalities within a week’s time.
Vibhor Sharma, DSP, Ferozepur City said that this alleged nexus between the transport office officials and agents was the cheating the innocent persons by issuing driving licenses and RCs by using the fake stamps. He said that the police shall also interrogate the third suspected accused, Surinder Pal Singh, who was transferred last month to Chandigarh. The DSP said that he is expecting more revelations in the upcoming days.
