Jalandhar, October 13, 2016: To make students aware of career opportunities in the Indian Air Force, a workshop was held on the Shahpur campus of the CT Group of Institutions on Thursday. Representatives of the Airmen Selection Board spoke to the students about the possibilities. The workshop was organized in the guidance and supervision of District Administration, Jalandhar in collaboration with District Bureau of Employment Generation & Training and CT Group of institutions.
A seminar on ‘Circulation of knowledge about the various Airmen Trades in Indian Air Force’ was organized. GS Arora (Wing Commander, IAF) apprised students about the employment opportunities in the Air Force, requisite qualifications and capabilities for the jobs and recruitment process. He informed the students on “How they prepare themselves, if they want to pursue a career in Indian Air Force as Airmen”.
The event was organised for motivating and encouraging the youth to join the different branches of the IAF including technical, flying and ground duty. The event was attended by Faculty and students of B.Tech (All Streams) besides a team of seven Officers from IAF.
More than 1000 students from St. Soldier Polytechnic College, Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, CT Group of Institutions, GNA University, Govt Sr. Sec School (Ladowali Road), Govt Sr. Sec Co-education School (Ladowali Road)), Boys Sr. Sec School, MGN Public School, Ramgarhia Polytechnic College and others attended the seminar.
Sh. GS Arora (Wing Commander, Airmen Selection Centre, IAF Ambala) highlighted the evolution of IAF from historical perspective till the role of armed forces in present day warfare. The audience was given glimpse of life of an officer right from his/her selection into IAF till post retirement life. Sh. D.P. Singh with other officers interacted with the students.
The students were elated on learning about the adventurous and exciting life that IAF officers have to offer. Students were also informed about various selection procedures that are followed during selection of an officer into various arms and services of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian navy including an insight into the various illustrious training institutions available in the country for training of an officer.
The event concluded with informal but informative interactions of students with the IAF officers on various entry schemes & opportunities in the armed forces.
Deputy Commissioner (IAS) Kamal Kishore Yadav, while inaugurating the workshop, said, “There are a lot of opportunities present for today’s youngsters, provided they are aware of them. Proper awareness regarding their careers should be there among students.”
S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman of CT Group of Institutions welcomed the Commander, officers & conveyed his gratitude to the IAF for providing students with an opportunity of getting and insight of what IAF has to offer to the youth in case they choose armed forces as their career.
In the seminar, Smt. Sanjeeda Bedi (Deputy Director, District Bureau of Employment Generation & Training), Sh. Gurmail Singh, Sh. Inderjeet Singh Dhami (Director, Punjab Youth Welfare) also marked their presence.
