Modi government holds special attention of senior citizens: Anurag Thakur
Dharamshala, October 11, 2018: BJP Party Chief Whip and Hamirpur MP in Lok Sabha, Anurag Thakur, has discussed the issue of running many welfare schemes to take special care of senior citizens of the country and protect their interests by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lead central government.
In a press release issued here today, Anurag Thakur said, "The work done by the Central Government for senior citizens in the last four years has given new charm to the lives of our elderly people. The elderly in the country are getting a lot of benefits from the various schemes of the present government.” He further added that this government has given them, the respect, for which they were always been looking for. The Modi government has given several schemes along with integrated vision and mission, to reduce the deficiency in wealth, shelter, health and security for Senior Citizens. With a new health insurance scheme for senior citizens, new fixed interest on deposits, senior citizens pension scheme, savings schemes etc the Modi government is taking special care of senior citizens through a consolidated program.
Speaking further, Anurag Thakur said "Pension is an important source of income after retirement for senior citizens. Earlier the pensioners have to submit their life certificate personally in the authorized banks , but now with the introduction of the new scheme, senior citizens got a great relief of it . Now, pensioners are not required to be present personally in front of the banks, pensioning institution or the certifying officer, and to face unnecessary obstacles.
NGOs under Integrated Program for elder Persons, are getting 90 percent help to setup Old Age Homes, Day Care Centre and Mobile medical centres. "
Anurag said, "The central government is providing 35 kg of food grains to the families having senior citizens , under the Antyodaya Program, @ Rs 3 per kg rice and two per kg wheat.”
