Chandigarh, April 7, 2016: The Modi Government has approved a bullet train between Amritsar and Delhi which would be running via Chandigarh on a new track.

Sharing this information, Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the BJP has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu for this one lakh crore project which would immensely benefit the economy and the development of Punjab besides boosting tourism in the state.

Chugh said the project would cover 458 kilometres of distance between Amritsar and Delhi via Chandigarh at a speed of 300 km per hour in just two and a half hours. He said this would save a lot of time as the fastest train from Amritsar to Delhi takes minimum six hours for the journey. He said that the fare for this train would be at par with that of Shatabdi.

He said the consultants of the Railway Ministry and the France Company have estimated that the project would be completed in eight years. A new track for this would be laid. He said the bullet train would be covering Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Ambala and some important stations of Haryana before reaching Delhi.

The BJP leader said that the country was witnessing an era of revolutionary development under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said that the government was not after increasing the number of the trains but was concentrating on qualitative changes in the system and facilities to be provided to the commuters travelling on Indian Railway network.

Chugh said that the government has initiated steps for the better maintenance of Railway Stations and Trains and efforts were on to provide Airport like facilities at the Railway Stations.
