Shimla, November 17, 2016: The State level mock exercise on earthquake in seven most vulnerable districts Chamba, Solan, Kinnaur, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Kangra will be organized on 24 November, 2016.
In this connection, an orientation through video conferencing was held today in the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri V.C. Pharka.
The Chief Secretary stated that the main objective of the mock exercise was to generate awareness amongst the stakeholders, evaluate response mechanism and functioning of various stakeholders. It would facilitate preparation of response plans at various levels and coordination between NDMA, SDMA, DDMAs and various stakeholders.
He said a coordination conference will be held on 21 November, 2016 and table top exercise on 23 November while the actual State level mock exercise would be organised on 24 November.
He directed that members of State Executive Committee of SDMA, Himachal Pradesh, head of departments and Chief Executive officers (DDMAs) of these seven districts to be present in the coordination conference to be held on 21 November besides ITBP, NDRF and Army Officers.
Shri Pharka insisted upon all the officers at State and District level to take all preparatory measures to make this mock exercise a grand success.
Major General Shri V.K. Dutta (Retd.), Senior Consultant (IRS and Mock Exercise), National Disaster Management Authority, Union Ministry of Home Affairs discussed various steps to be taken through power point presentation for this exercise. Shri Dutta informed that Mw=8.0 Mandi Earthquake Disaster scenario for Disaster Risk Management will be developed.
The Deputy Commissioners, ADMs, Chief Executive Officers (DDMA) and all stakeholder departments at the district level participated in the Video- conference.
Special Secretary (Revenue-Disaster Management) Shri D.D. Sharma and the officers of Police, Home Guard Civil Defence, NDRF, ITBP, Public Works Department, Irrigation and Public Health, Fire Services, Health and all other stakeholder Departments were present on the occasion.
