Ludhiana, July 19, 2018: In a big breakthrough, the Special Task Force (STF), constituted by the state government, received a breakthrough with the arrest of two persons from whom banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups worth Rs 2.13 crore have been recovered. The STF also recovered cash worth Rs 6 lakh and a Toyota Innova SUV from the accused persons.

While addressing a press conference here today, Mr Promod Ban, IG, STF Punjab, informed that both the persons have been arrested in a joint operation of STF Ludhiana and Jalandhar teams. He said that during checking near Sangam Palace Chowk on Chuharpur Road, here, the team stopped a Toyota Innova bearing number PB 10 DE 1112. He informed that the vehicle was driven by one Manindervir Singh alias Raja, aged around 37 years, resident of House Number 10724, New Patel Nagar, Haibowal Kalan, here.

During his checking, 4 lakh 80 thousand banned tablets and Rs 6 lakh in cash were recovered from his possession. A case (number 106) under sections 21/61/85 of NDPS Act has been registered against Manindervir Singh at Police Station Haibowal on July 18, 2018.

Mr Promod Ban informed that on further questioning, 13 different kinds of banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups (total of 21,58,348) were recovered from the store located in Manindervir’s house. He said that during the course of investigation, one Surinder Kumar, aged around 32 years, a resident of village Muradpur Jattan, PS Mukerian, District Hoshiarpur, who works as a manager of JSK Transport Company, Transport Nagar, Ludhiana was also arrested by the STF. During the search of the company’s godown, 2.50 lakh banned tablets were also recovered from there.

Mr Ban informed that Manindervir confessed that he owned a shop named Sehgal Medicine on Chuharpur Road, Ludhiana. Manindervir confessed that due to financial losses, he came to know about one Naval Kishore, a resident of Agra, whom he contacted over the phone and started the business of buying and selling banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups for the last two years. The IG informed that Manindervir used to transport these drugs through Jodhpur Golden Transport Company, Agra to Ludhiana at JSK Logistic Transport Company, Plot Number 41, Transport Nagar, Ludhiana. He informed that Manindervir then took the delivery of these drugs from the office of JSK Logistic Transport Company and the used to supply it in different parts of Ludhiana city as well as different cities of the state.

Mr Promod Ban said that the matter is still under investigation and all persons who have been in touch with Manindervir in this illicit business would also be arrested. He said that the bank accounts as well as the properties of accused persons would also be verified and the persons from whom he used to procure these drugs would also identified.

He informed that till date, 28,88,348 banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups worth Rs 2,13,89,937 have been recovered from their possession. The details of banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups recovered from their possession is Lomotil (462000 tablets), Fortadol-DM (18000 tablets), Clovidol-100/SR (250000 tablets), Parvorin-Spas (230400 capsules), Fortadol-DM (108000 tablets), Rexgesic Inj (2500 injections), Spasmo-proxyvon Plus (149040 capsules), Xl-pam-0.5 (575000 tablets), Onerex Syrup (2400 bottles), TRM-SPAS (24800 tablets), Carisoma (10000 tablets), Warma (28200 capsules), Hacket Inj (1800 injections), Fortwin Inj (5208 injections), Colvidol-SR-100 (720000 tablets) and Clovidol-100/SR (300000 tablets).
