MISHAP: 1 more killed at unmanned railway crossing at Mulewal Khaira village

Jalandhar, November 22, 2012 : Vijai Kumar also known as Sebi, resident of village Mulewal Arsyan village reportedly killed at unmanned railway crossing at Mulewal Khaira village when his car was hit by a ballast regulating machine (BRM) on Wednesday.

Senior railway officers from Firozpur railway division reached the place of happening and started the investigation in the matter.

The accident took place when Vijai  was in the car could not notice the killer stone engraving machine at the unmanned railway in the process of crossing the unmanned railway crossing at the fatal time, sources allegedly said.

The BRM was reportedly running at a fast speed, hit the car, dragged the car, thrown nearly at a distance of 250 meters away from the accidental site, the car was crushed like anything, said few residents of the nearby villages.

The residents of nearby area and the relatives of the deceased sought that the Railways should be held responsible for the loss of lives on the unmanned crossings.

The driver of the BRM , Mukhwinder Singh said," I was driving the machine at a normal speed, the car suddenly crept in emergency, breaks were applied by me, also blown horn to alarm the car driver, I was not at fault in any way."

The in- charge of the GRP Police Station said that after preliminary inquirers conducted, it was found that the car driver was negligent.

A case of rash and negligent driving and causing death was registered Under Section 279 /304 A of the IPC against the deceased.
