Asks formation of a committee to ensure people are not evicted from their houses
Ludhiana, December 20, 2019: Mrs Manju Diler, Member, National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, today directed the Municipal Corporation and District Administration to ensure that till the time, alternate living arrangements are made for the residents of Rajiv Colony in Focal Point area, they should not be evicted from the area. She had visited Rajiv Colony today and interacted with the residents about their problems.
While addressing the gathering, Mrs Diler directed the officials that to save the area residents from being evicted from their homes, a committee should be formed, and representatives of area residents should also be made members in this committee. She said that the area residents should either be provided homes of 50 sq yards each or their existing houses should be regularised at subsidised rates.
Mrs Manju Diler said that if there is any damage caused to any Safai Karamchari or their family members, then the administration would be solely responsible for that. He said that the Union government is committed to provide houses to every person by 2022. She said that families of Safai Karamcharis should not be made to suffer for the fulfilment of this commitment.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Naresh Dhigan, Mr Yashpal Chaudhary, officials from Municipal Corporation and District Administration, besides several others.
