Jalandhar, April 24, 2017: Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar’s mega event Apeejay Stya Model United Nations 2017 concluded by leaving a mark of unforgetfulness in the minds of youngsters. This three day conference proved to be a milestone for the executive members, delegates and organizing committee as it gave them a firsthand experience of world’s highest organization i.e. United Nations. Youngsters with a taste for politics, leadership and bureaucracy participated in brainiac discussions while acting as High Commissioners and Delegates representing diverse countries. They threw light upon various blazing issues like Women Empowerment, Human rights, rights of LGBTQ Community, Conflicts of Terrorism, Issues of Punjab region, situation of Farmers, after impact of demonetization, illicit use of Medicinal Drugs, Poloticalization of Education, Membership of Security Council, the status of Drug Menace in Punjab etc.
During the closing ceremony, members of Executive Board shared their experience about the problems discussed and resolutions passed. Students of the college presented a motivational choreography with the theme of Soaring High. An astonishing performance of Bhangara marked the closure of the event. During the prize distribution, Best Delegate, High Commendation, Special mention and Verbal mention were awarded with certificates and prizes.
Principal Dr. Sucharita expressed her appreciation for College student Gautam Seth, all members of the organizing committee and participants of the conference. She highly applauded the efforts of the students who worked day and night for making their dream a reality by organizing ASMUN 2017. She opined that the theme ‘Now or Never’ is quite apt as all the nations need to take unified steps to eliminate the issues of terrorism, peace, economic crisis etc from the scenario of globe. She further extended her views that youth is a force that can bring a change in the world to make it a better place to live in.
