MEETING TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE ABOUT MAXIMUM VOTING FOR UPCOMING LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019 HELD

SVEEP NODAL OFFICERS ASKED TO GIVE SPECIAL EMPHASIS TOWARDS YOUTH, TRANSGENDERS, PwD, NRI VOTERS ETC
Ludhiana, January 4, 2019: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and on the directions of Chief Election Officer Punjab, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagraon-cum-Nodal Officer SVEEP Mrs Neeru Katyal today held a meeting with all Electoral Registration Officers and SVEEP Nodal Officers from all Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Ludhiana district. They were directed to organise various SVEEP activities so that maximum number of voters are made about the importance of voting.
She asked them to give special emphasis towards youth, transgender voters, persons with disabilities and Non Resident Indian voters.
She also directed that awareness camps should be organised in all colleges of the district to that the youth can be made aware about their right to vote. She also said that maximum votes of transgenders should also be made after consultation with mahants/presidents residing in different areas of the district. She said that they should also be urged to exercise their right to vote.
She also asked them to ensure that maximum votes of eligible voters should be made after visiting Viklaang Kendras and schools for visually impaired in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the district.
She said that special emphasis should also be given towards their transportation to election booths and back.
She issued directions to Booth Level Officers (BLO’s) to ensure that all eligible NRI voters are registered. She directed all SVEEP nodal officers to publicise information regarding voting machines and VVPAT machines and awareness camps should be organised at prominent places of the district.

URDU CLASSES FROM JANUARY 7
Ludhiana, January 4, 2019: The State Languages Department has decided to start Urdu Classes from January 7, 2019 onwards. District Language Officer Mr. Raman Kumar Sahota told that department holds Urdu Classes at free of cost and it would be a six-month course. He informed that interested people can procure the admission forms from the office of Language Department, located in Punjabi Bhawan, here, and can start attending the classes.
