Meeting for celebration of Centenary Year of PU Honours School System

Chandigarh, October 17, 2018: Prof.Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh called an interactive meeting with the PU Ex-VCs-Prof.R.P.Bambah, Prof.M.M.Puri, Prof.K.N.Pathak, Prof.R.C.Sobti and Prof.Arun K.Grover, here today to discuss the celebration of Centenary Year of PU Honours School System in 2019. Coincidently, 2019 is also the birth centenary of Prof.R.C.Paul, who remained the VC of PU for 10 years from 1974-84.
During the meeting, it was unanimously appreciated that PU is a Unique Heritage National Institute of repute. PU in pure essence stands for humanism, for tolerance, for reason, for the adventure of ideas and for the search for truth. It stands for the onward march of the human race towards even higher objectives as quoted by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The details for the celebrations of Centenary Year were discussed in the meeting and it was suggested to release a postal stamp in the Centenary Year of Prof. R.C.Paul. It was also proposed to hold a Centenary Commemoration Symposium to mark the Centenary of Honours School System of PU. It was also discussed to send proposals TO Government of India for funds required for the growth of PU keeping in mind, the growing decline of various rankings.
