Ludhiana, February 13, 2017: Better late than never, it is good that MCL (Municipal Corporation Ludhiana) is going to survey 109 hotels to check parking related violations and may be other violations too, so as to minimize traffic related problems in city as well as unauthorized parking on roads in front of big Hotels. To do technical study of 109 hotels by just few experts in few days is not an easy task. Inspections can be carried by senior town planners from Ludhiana and other cities.
In a statement here on Monday, Indian Institute of Architects Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter chairman Ar.Sanjay Goel added to make Ludhiana really smart, strict implementation of prevailing building by-laws is must, otherwise illegal buildings will keep on coming, may be without parking space, which will further add to number of encroachments and traffic related issues.
Nobody should be allowed at all to start the construction without getting proper maps approved as per by-laws, like in Chandigarh.
ATPs and inspectors must check the buildings at different stages like at DPC, at slabs, so as to further prevent illegal construction, like in Chandigarh.
On 100% completion of building, as per approved maps, a completion certificate must be issued to the owner and after that only water connection, sewerage connection and electrical connection etc. should be released.
If we are short of staff, then how we can complete the necessary works and for smart city mission we need further more staff.
New by-laws for more parking spaces within the building must be prepared and implemented at the earliest, to make city further smarter.
Action against any genuine complaint must be taken immediately, so as to further avoid encroachments. Taking action after decades is neither good for owners nor for Government.
“Even no addition-alteration of buildings should be allowed in the city without MC permission, like in Chandigarh”, he suggested.
