Ludhiana, October 4, 2016: The officials from Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and consultants from AECOM/PWC conducted a detailed discussion session on the projects that would take place under smart city mission on Tuesday. In a day long session the consultants and the officials discussed the projects in details.
In the evening the Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria also conducted meeting with officials and consultants to get details about these projects. The consultants discussed the projects like installation of sign boards and construction of public toilets. Recently Municipal Corporation Ludhiana has floated tenders for both projects.
Along with this, they discussed the multi level car parking projects in Feroze Gandhi market. The consultants have prepared plan for retrofitting of Sarabha Nagar market and Ghumar Mandi area. They would now meet the stakeholders in markets and ask them their suggestions for changes which they want to see in these markets.
The officials claimed that they would organize a workshop with the shopkeepers and other people in the market in next two days. They would give a chance to these people to suggest means which can be applied to make these markets smart enough. CEO of Ludhiana Smart City Limited cum MCL Commissioner, Ghanshyam Thori claimed that exercise is being done to check all the pros and cons before moving ahead with these projects so that there should not be any problem at end. He told that public participation is must in implementation of projects because people in these areas are more aware of problems of that particular part of city.
