Ludhiana, October 2, 2016: The first static compactor of state was inaugurated by the Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Sunday. This is the pilot project which has been launched in Ludhiana. The Municipal Corporation has plans to install more static compactors at 10 locations in the city.
The three static compactors have been installed near garbage dump of Dugri Bridge from where it was difficult to cross the road due to foul smell of the garbage. Moreover people used to complain about heaps of garbage lying in the dump. The MC officials claimed that these static accompactors will solve all such issues because where it will hide the garbage it will also help in curbing smell and segregating the garbage from water. The private garbage collection company A To Z waste management limited has got these compactors installed.
Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria said that they have launched this service for the convenience of the residents. He claimed that they had sent a team of officials to the Kolkatta for seeing the results of static compactors and it was after checking everything they brought this technology here. They will install static compactors at 10 more locations in city.
MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that it is going to be a major relief for the people who were either residing in the nearby localities or even the commuters who pass through this road everyday. He shared that they will identify more such locations so that secondary garbage collection points should come to end and garbage collection should take place with advanced technology.
