Massive dharna staged before Regional Office of OBC

Ludhiana, October 20, 2014: On the call of Oriental Bank of Commerce Employees Union (NR), massive dharna was staged before Regional Office of Oriental Bank of Commerce at Jandu Tower, Ludhiana. In the afternoon, demonstration was held.

While addressing the gathering, Com.Harvinder Singh, Senior Vice President, Punjab Bank Employees Federation, Ludhiana Unit, said that in Oriental Bank of Commerce, out-sourcing has gone to such an extent that in more than 1300 outlets of the Bank, cleaning & sweeping is being done by casual and temporary employees. We demand absorption of all the casual employees. Outsourcing in cash logistics and housekeeping is going on in large scale, disciplinary proceedings are being used as mock exercise to impose the predetermined and disproportionate punishment. He warned the management to mend its ways and call the Union for amicable solution otherwise Oriental Bank Employees Union will observe full day stay out strike on 5th November 2014 and AIBEA will extend its solidarity support.

Com. Pawan Thakur, President, Punjab Bank Employees Federation, Ludhiana Unit, while addressing the gathering said that Oriental Bank Employees Union is demanding one time opportunity to all sub-staff to disclose/record their educational qualification not disclosed at the time of employment. Despite the assurance given by the management earlier to accept the demand, the Management suddenly rejected the demand in the meeting held on 14/07/2014 without any reasoning.

Com. Dharam Pal, Dy. General Secretary, Com. Pardeep Kumar, Vice President, Com. Tejinder Singh, Com. S.N.Sikka, Com. Vishav Bandhu Khanna, Com. Ramesh Kumar, Oriental Bank Employees Union also addressed the gathering.
