Jalandhar, March 30, 2016: Senior B.J.P leader and former Minister Punjab Manoranjan Kalia, MLA today met the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highway & Shipping Nitin Gadkari at New Delhi and apprised him about the flyovers of Dakoha and Dhannowali. Gadkari ordered to have inspection of the site to view the feasibility of the same.
Kalia said the Inspection Team would visit the site on April 4. He had written a letter in this regard to Gadkari on January 13 this year. The letter is being reproduced herewith in the larger interest of the readers:
“It is brought to your kind notice that there exits two No. Level crossing one at Dakoha and the other at Dhanowali abutting the National Highway Panipat to Jalandhar at Jalandhar near Rama Mandi Chowk. The level crossing at Dakoha (S-69/T-3) has TVU of 2,59,352 as on 6/2015 and the level crossing at Dhanowali (S-70/T--3) has TVU of 92185 as on 6/2015 and these level crossing just abut very near to the National Highway. These both level crossing fall on the very busy Railway section of Delhi-Amritsar. These level crossing are closed most of the time due to the very busy Railway movement on this section of Railways. Whenever there is closure of level crossings, the traffic piles up on both sides of the crossings. The traffic on the side abutting the National Highway even spills over on the National Highway thus hindering the smooth movement of traffic on the highway.
Thus there is dire need of construction of Grade Separator at this location of Panipat -Jalandhar six lane highway along with ROB's over these level crossings merging with the Grade Separator so that there is smooth Entry/ exit of traffic at these locations of Dakoha & Dhanowali.
You are very kindly requested to ask the concerned authorities entrusted with the six laning of this highway i.e. National Highway Authority of India to facilitate the construction of Grade separator at this location along with ROB's over these level crossings merging with the grade separator so as to have smooth entry/exit of traffic to Dakoha & Dhanowali over the level crossings abutting the National Highway at these locations.”
