Chandigarh, October 25, 2017: Senior BJP leader from Punjab, S.Manjit Singh Rai today took charge as Member of the National Commission for Minorities. He assumed office in presence of Commission’s chairman in Delhi. Rai was nominated to the Commission vide a notification issued by Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, on October 20.
Hailing from Zira town in Punjab and an advocate by profession, S.Manjit Singh Rai has held various responsibilities within the BJP. Sardar Rai remained state president of the Yuva Morcha, president of Kisan Morcha, state party secretary, state party general secretary and state party vice-president during his 20 long years of association with the BJP. Rai has been the chairman of Punjab Infotech, District Planning Board, Market Committee and has held various other senior posts in the state.
Congratulating Manjit Singh Rai, Union Minister and Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla, National vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna, state vice-president Harjit Singh Grewal and state secretary Vineet Joshi stated that Rai is a brilliant and respectable person who would honestly carry out his new responsibility and attain new heights.
