MANISH TEWARI unfurls national flag in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, January 26, 2013: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Manish Tewari unfurled the National Flag near Clock Tower in Ludhiana today on the 64th Republic Day of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Tewari paid rich tributes to the great freedom fighters such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Lala Lajpat Rai.

He said that the architect of Indian constitution, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar made tremendous contribution in giving India a Constitution which enshrined the ideals of democracy, equality, secularism and socialism.

The Minister said the freedom fighters from Punjab had made supreme sacrifices in winning freedom for the country and thereafter all Punjabis made a great contribution not only in defending the frontiers of the country from external threats, but also in heralding an era of peace and prosperity in the country. Tewari, while greeting the people on the occasion of Republic Day, expressed hope that in the coming decade while the country touches new heights in economic growth and development, the State of Punjab will also regain its status of being the number one state in the country.

On the occasion, former Punjab Ministers Malkit Singh Dakha, Isher Singh Mehrban, Rakesh Pandey Former Minister and sitting MLA, Surinder Dawar MLA and senior leaders including Pawan Dewan, Gurmel Singh Pehlwan, Jasbir Singh Jassi Khangura, Ashok Prashar Pappi and Leena Taparia were also present.
