Dharamshala, August 26, 2019: The sacred Manimahesh Yatra in the Chamba District of the Himachal Pradesh has been suspended temporarily due to the washing away of a bridge.
Informing this, the SP Kangra at Dharamshala Vimukt Ranjan said on Monday, “Unfortunately, in the rains last night a bridge near Bharngala Nullah connecting Hudsar to Bharmour has been washed away. This is the only route to Manimahesh. Efforts are being made to restore the bridge. But till then yatra has been suspended temporarily.”
He advised the yatris not to proceed further towards Chamba / Mani Mahesh, till the clearance of the concerned authorities.
The Manimahesh Lake is situated 26-kilometers from Bharmour in the Budhil Valley, one of the chief pilgrimage spots in Himachal Pradesh. The lake is situated at an altitude of 13,000 feet at the foot of the Kailash peak (18,564 ft). Every year during August/September thousands of pilgrims assemble here to take a dip in the holy water.
