Chandigarh, July 8, 2014: Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Sikander Singh Maluka met the chairmen and vice chairmen in a state level meeting at Vikas Bhavan . He asked Director C.Siban to constitute a committee to address their grievances and ensures the relative hike in honorarium allowance. Gurpreet Singh Maluka, Kultar Singh Brar, Tarshinder Singh Pannu , Bibi Amarjit Kaur and Jasbir Singh Deol would be the members of this committee.
This is first state level meeting of Maluka after taking charge as Rural Development Minister. He urged them to strive hard in taking rural Punjab to new horizons of development and progress. He also said that chairmen and vice chairmen have been given full rights to ensure provision of basic and essential amenities of health and education to the people of rural area.
Referring to the posts in rural dispensaries and Panchayati schools, Maluka said that these posts would be filled. He also said that dilapidated buildings of department would be renovated and new buildings would also be constructed. The minister asked deputy commissioners concerned to ensure the participation of Panchayati School in primary school games. He also said that the Punjab government was contemplating to jointly organise the primary rural sports in consultation with Zila Parishad.
Laying emphasis on working strictly in Punjabi in government offices, Maluka said that anybody found not working in official language would be dealt with swiftly and strict actions would be taken against the erring. He also asked chairmen and vice chairmen of Zila Parishad to enhance its resources to generate more income which would be spent exclusively on rural development activates in state. He also sought support from them towards eradication of drugs so that healthy and drug free Punjab could be evolved. Mantar Singh Brar Chief Parlimentary secretary Rural Development and Panchayat, C. Siban Director and senior officers of Rural Department were also present on this occasion.
