Ludhiana: A major rail tragedy was averted near Baddowal railway station this afternoon.

As per the available information, Brij Lal- the vigilant driver of the train (4LF) en-route Ferozepur to Ludhiana this afternoon observed that the railway track was uneven. On arriving at Ludhiana railway station he informed the railway authorities in black and white.

On receiving the information, the Ludhiana deputy station superintendent Jaswant Singh deputed the engineering wing to visit the spot and do the needful.

The engineering wing staff went to the spot and observed that the track at the particular spot was “uneven” following which repairs were started for ensuring safer passage to the other trains.

The repair work led to delay of the train (No. 19771), Punjab Express, en-route Jaipur to Amritsar. This train was stopped at Baddowal railway station.

Even the Puja Express got delayed and it arrived at the local railway station by about 90 minutes. It was scheduled to arrive at 12-10 pm but it arrived at 13-21 pm.

The Deputy Station Superintendent, Ludhiana, Jaswant Singh said that Brij Lal has done a responsible job by informing about uneven track. He further informed that the driver of the Puja Express train and the engineering wing found the track right after the train passed from the repaired track at site.
